Accessibility Statement

Aire Solutions is committed to making Unit Converter accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of ability or technology. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, which are the internationally recognised standard for accessible web content and the reference point for legislation such as the European Accessibility Act, the UK Equality Act and Section 508 in the United States.

We regard accessibility as an ongoing obligation rather than a one-off project, and we improve the site incrementally as issues are identified.

• Semantic HTML structure with proper headings, lists, tables and landmark regions.
• Keyboard operability — all converters, category navigation, calculators and links can be reached and operated without a mouse.
• Visible focus indicators so keyboard users can always see where they are on the page.
• Accessible names on interactive controls, including the unit selectors, the swap button, copy buttons and the mobile navigation toggle.
• Advertising regions marked up as complementary content with descriptive labels, so screen reader users can skip them.
• Text contrast chosen to meet the 4.5:1 minimum for body text against its background.
• A responsive layout that reflows down to small screens and remains usable when text is enlarged up to 200%.
• Numeric inputs that trigger the appropriate on-screen keyboard on mobile devices.
• Conversion results rendered as real text, never as images, so they can be read aloud and copied.

We would rather be candid than claim perfection. We are aware of the following limitations and are working on them:

• Selecting a converter category updates the page content without changing the web address, which means screen readers may not always announce the change automatically, and the browser Back button does not return to the previous converter.
• Long conversion tables in specialised categories can be demanding to navigate with a screen reader because of the number of rows.
• Advertisements are supplied by a third party. Their internal accessibility is outside our control, although we do control how they are labelled and positioned on the page.
• Some unit abbreviations use mathematical or superscript characters that individual screen readers may pronounce inconsistently.

The site is designed to work with current versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge on desktop and mobile, in combination with assistive technologies such as NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver and TalkBack. It does not depend on any browser plug-in. JavaScript is required for the converters to calculate results.

Accessibility has been assessed through internal review, including keyboard-only navigation testing, automated checks and inspection of the page structure. We have not yet commissioned a formal third-party audit or a published conformance report, and we do not claim full WCAG 2.1 AA conformance at this time.

If you encounter a barrier using this site, please tell us — reports from users are the most reliable way we learn about real problems. Email info@unitconverter.website describing the page, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology and browser you were using. We aim to respond within five business days and will tell you what we can do and by when.
